MUSCOGEE (CREEK) NATION MOUND BUILDING RENOVATION
Our design team was asked to assist the Muscogee (Creek) Nation with the in-progress renovation of the historic Mound Building* located on the Nation’s Tribal Capitol Complex site in Okmulgee.
The initial project scope included performing a Building Assessment, on the exterior, addressing MCN’s immediate questions and concerns and assisting in establishing priorities and developing concepts for the best use of remaining funds. The second phase of services included completing the final Drawings and Specifications for the approved design concepts and assisting MCN as needed during the construction phase.
This renovation addressed the exterior envelope of the building only, and our team’s design replicated traditional arbor structures and incorporated symbolism on the perimeter of the building and in the concrete design. Our team also provided plaques depicting the historic tribal boundaries and tribal towns.
This building houses the Nation’s National Council, Supreme Court and District Court.
